msaimeephillips: 6 years ago I came to London “for a few months” to hang out with my best pal as he launched the brand new Radio 1 Breakfast Show. What we didn’t know then was that my pal would became the second-longest serving R1 breakfast show host and that his new producer would later become my husband and the father of my child! The show has been a huge part of my life in so many different ways these last 6 years that I find it weirdly emotional listening to this last ever show this morning. I’ve had so many amazing memories both personally in the studio(s) and just as a fan listening to a hilarious radio show from home every morning.

The weekend before the new breakfast show launched in 2012, I sat in the old R1 office and watched @nicholasgrimshaw @ichaloner and @mattfincham putting together last minute ideas and putting finishing touches on bits, songs and various nonsense for the first shows, none of them having any real clue what was about to happen in their lives. Here they are recording vocals for the “Wake Up Song” (a long since-defunct feature) looking young, fresh and full of possibilities. No idea why @ichaloner was wearing a Union Jack blazer, and no idea where @fionaradio was (presumably sitting in a pub somewhere doing her own preparation for having her life derailed for the next half decade.) Congratulations @nicholasgrimshaw on 6 hilarious, magical and generally just DUMB years of being the host of the Radio 1 Breakfast Show….you rule. Cant wait to have dinner with you after 5pm.

♥️♥️♥️♥️

mattfincham: Love that you captured this moment. Perhaps this was an early version of #Fashian?!
nicholasgrimshaw: Love you @msaimeephillips thank you for being a constant source of lol content for the show and emotional support for me and my brain – which you will continue to be forever until I die. 💕
